Pasaulio fosilinių sakų pavyzdžiai iš dr. Genovaitės Kazokienės meno dirbinių kolekcijos Lietuvos dailės muziejaus rinkiniuose

LTStraipsnyje aptariamos Genovaitės Elenos Budreikaitės-Kazokienės-Kazokas (1924–2015) biografijos detalės, jos veikla puoselėjant išeivijos meną, kaupiant lietuvių tautos paveldą, taip pat svarus indėlis gausinant ir įvairinant Lietuvos dailės muziejaus kolekcijų fondą. Straipsnyje detaliau nagrinėjama menotyrininkės surinkta ir Palangos gintaro muziejaus rinkinyje saugoma fosilinių sakų kolekcija, kurioje trisdešimties vienetų dirbinių pavyzdžiai surinkti iš dešimties skirtingų vietovių, apimančių net kelis žemynus ir atskiras salas. ENGenovaitė Elena Budreikaitė-Kazokienė-Kazokas was born on May 5, 1924 in Kaunas and died on April 6, 2015 in Australia. Although according to initial education she worked as a dentist for many years, she was always keen on art, acquired education of art critic, was an activist of society and culture of Australian Lithuanians, a cultural activist, a researcher and promoter of Lithuanian art, an honorary member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Union, and a prominent collector. Between 1994 and 2003, G. Kazokienė handed over to the Lithuanian Art Museum several abundant and valuable collections: the artworks of emigrants of Australian Lithuanians (277 items) and art examples of Australian Aborigines and Oceanian peoples (840 items). Genovaitė Kazokienė also enriched the collection of Palanga Amber Museum by donating artefacts made of fossil resin from various countries of the world, which are discussed in more detail in this paper. Fossil resin is tree resin from pre-historic times, which, at different geological periods, seeped out of the trees and subsequently entered different layers of the earth and date back from several hundred thousand to millions of years. To put it simply, it is hardened tree resin. Over 160 fossil resin deposits are known worldwide. For us Lithuanians, Baltic amber is best known (dates back about 50 million years). The first examples of fossil resin donated by G. Kazokienė reached the funds of the Lithuanian Art Museum as early as 1976. The collection was supplemented until 2003. Currently, 30 items of different artefacts are preserved in Palanga Amber Museum from 10 different locations covering several continents and different islands: New Guinea, Bali and Java, and other, not specifically named, locations in Indonesia, New Zealand, China, Tibet, India and the African continent.
