ENPasvalys Area Museum, which opened its door to the visitors in September 1998, has 44 thousand exhibits. Only a small part of them is the legacy of emigrants. The aim of the present paper is to introduce the emigrants of Pasvalys region and to present the exhibits donated by them to the museum. In the museum display, dedicated to a poet Bernardas Brazdžionis, his personal things donated by his granddaughter Dalytė Lovett, are exhibited, and in 2017 the funds were supplemented with 151 exhibits donated by Maironis Lithuanian Literature Museum. Barbora-Balčiūnaitė-Armonienė’s (1908– 2008) book “Palik ašaras Maskvoje/Leave your Tears in Moscow” (1961 (Cleveland), 1993, 2016) and the memoir “Kaip aš tapau draugu/How I became a Friend” (2016) by her American son Jonas E. Armonas, who grew in exile in Siberia, tell about the life of Lithuanian immigrant family of the beginning of the 20th century in America and Lithuania, long parting, exile, labour camps and a long journey towards freedom. Only in March 1960 all family of Armonai again met and lived in the USA. Barbora Armonienė died on December 25, 2008 in Cleveland. Her son E. Armonas graduated chemistry science and established his own business. J. E. Armonas donated to the museum his mother’s book in the Lithuanian, English, Spanish, German, and Portuguese languages, embroideries from exile, his own collections of envelopes, medals, coins, the publications of numismatics, etc.Pasvalys citizen Regina Balčiūnaitė- Samuolienė donated to the museum the documents of her father Kazys Balčiūnas (1905–1992), Chief of Pasvalys Fire Brigade, who by the order of German government on July 27, 1944 withdrew from Lithuania: orders, certificates, checks, cards, passports and other documents in the Lithuanian, German and English languages. The documents tell us about the way, which had to be followed by K. Balčiūnas and others who in 1944 left Lithuania. In 1949, K. Balčiūnas arrived in the USA and lived in Chicago, between 1950 and 1974 he worked in “General Motors” factory, was a member and sponsor of USA Lithuanian community and other emigrant associations. Kazys Balčiūnas arrived in Lithuania with the first tourist group in 1972, and in 1988 he came back to Lithuania forever. Regina Samuolienė’s daughter Živilė Ramašauskienė with her husband Žilvinas have lived in Chicago since 2001. Thanks to them, emigrants’ books, the collection of graphics artworks (about 70 etchings introduced in the exhibition of the museum in the summer of 2013) of Lithuanian artist Žibuntas Mikšys (1923–2013), who lived in Paris, collected since 1965 by the ophthalmologist Dr. Algimantas Kelertas (1930– 2017), have reached the museum.In the USA, Dr. Algimantas Kelertas published the album of photographs captured in Siberia “Sibiras 1949–1958: Iš tremtinio dienoraščio/ Siberia 1949–1958: From the Emigrant’s Diary” by a folk artist, emigrant Vilhelmas Janiselis, who lives in Žadeikiai village in Pasvalys. Dr. A. Kelertas left by will to the museum two monotypes by Lithuanian graphics artist Viktoras Petravičius (1906–1989). The monotypes occurred at the museum thanks to Giedrius and Jurita Tamošiūnai family. Pasvalys emigrants’ love for homeland, care of Lithuania’s future, patriotism, altruism fascinate us and promote to share these stories. [From the publication]
