ENThe article discusses the origin of yet another group of texts from the manuscript titled "Pamokslai" by Kiprijonas Lukauskas (1757–1815) (Karaciejus, ed., 1996), which has recently come to light. The group of texts, which is called "Pamoksłas ape Kiemioniszkas Naminiku pawinastes" (LP 352–378) in the preface, provides the translation of the main part (LegP I; 1–38) of the texts from the book "Powinnosci Gospodarzow Wieyskich" (1779) by Juozapas Legavičius (Józef Legowicz, 1743–1812). Occasional digressions from the Polish original found in Lukauskas’ manuscript are related to the representation of the matters under discussion in the manner typical of the manuscript (not the printed matter) and the usual form of the Lithuanian text. The manuscript neatly written by Lukauskas provides the lexical parallelisms of certain words and contains unexpectedly ‘disobedient’ (not translated word-for-word) concepts; it omits or re-locates certain phrases and chooses a slightly different order of words in a sentence. The above features characteristic of the part of LP under discussion allow us to consider this part of the manuscript not a draft but a fair copy. Keywords: Kiprijonas Lukauskas (1757–1815), Juozapas Legavičius (Józef Legowicz, 1743–1812), Karol Fabiani (1716–1786), sermon as an act of teaching, translations of Catholic literature into Lithuanian, 18th century.
