Tyrime dalyvavo 145 respondentai, kurie serga išsėtine skleroze (77,9 proc. (106) moterų ir 21,3 proc. (29) vyrų). Amžiaus vidurkis 44 ± 12,86 metų. Besąlyginiam priėmimui nustatyti pasitelkta Barrett-Lennard santykių klausimyno (angl. The Barrett‐Lennard Relationship Inventory, BLRI) besąlyginio priėmimo skalė (BarrettLennard, 1962), ligos integravimui į savęs suvokimą įvertinti taikytas Tapatybės atkūrimo vertinimo klausimynas (angl. Identity Reconstruction Assessment Scale, IRAS) (Stepleman ir kt., 2017), emocinė būsena įvertinta pagal PANAS klausimyną (angl. Positive Affect and Negative Affect Schedule) (Watson ir Tellegen, 1985). ENThe aim of this study was to assess the relationship between the experience of unconditional acceptance in people with multiple sclerosis received from their relatives and the integration of the disease into self-perception with the emotional state. Material and the methods. The research involved 145 respondents with multiple sclerosis (77.9 % (106) women and 21.3 % (29) men). The average age of the subjects was 44±12.86 years. Unconditional acceptance was assessed by the Barrett‐Lennard Relationship Inventory (BLRI) (Barrett-Lennard, 1962) integration of the disease into self-perception was assessed by the Identity Reconstruction Assessment Scale (IRAS) (Stepleman et al, 2017), emotional state was assessed by the Positive Affect and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) (Watson & Tellegen, 1985). Results and conclusions. The study found a statistically significant relationship between emotional state of people with multiple sclerosis and unconditional acceptance: higher level of experience of unconditional acceptance from relatives related to a higher level of positive emotions. Lower level of unconditional acceptance was related to a higher level of negative emotions. Positive statistically significant relationship was found between sustained identity of people with multiple sclerosis and unconditional acceptance. Results revealed that sustained identity mediates the relationship between unconditional acceptance and negative and positive emotionality: greater experience of unconditional acceptance from relatives correlates with a more expressed sustained identity which in turn is associated with better emotional state, more positive and less negative emotionality.According to the results of the study, it is recommended that healthcare professionals try to include unconditional acceptance in the relationship with the patient during the consultation, which will contribute to a better emotional state of MS in patients. Educational and practical activities on the subjects of unconditional acceptance and the sustained identity are recommended for patients with MS, their relatives and medical personnel.
