Specifics of business consulting services used by small and medium enterprises in a transition economy

LTSmulkiojo ir vidutinio verslo (SVV) svarba beveik visų Europos šalių ekonomikoje didžiulė tiek sukuriamos pridėtinės vertės, tiek ir įdarbinamos visuomenės dalies prasme. Tačiau vieningai pripažįstama, kad esama nemažų barjerų, kurie gali stabdyti SVV plėtrą. Greta tradiciškai analizuojamų finansavimo kliūčių, ne mažesnę įtaką daro ir paties verslo organizavimo sunkumai. Čia didelę įtaką gali daryti profesionalių verslo konsultacijų samdymas. Verslo konsultacijų naudojimo problematika moksliniuose darbuose nagrinėta labai mažai. Ši sritis beveik niekuomet nesiejama su SVV dinamika, juo labiau – pereinamosios ekonomikos šalyse. Tyrimas apima 9 metų laikotarpį – nuo 1995 iki 2004, kurio metu atlikti giluminiai interviu su verslo konsultacijas naudojusių 304 mulkiųjų ir vidutinių įmonių (SVĮ) vadovais. Visos įmonės buvo registruotos Lietuvoje, privačios ir turėjo vyraujančią lietuviško kapitalo dalį. SVĮ vystymąsi veikia daug įvairiausių daugelyje tyrimų nagrinėjamų veiksnių. Šiame darbe nagrinėta tik verslo konsultacijų naudojimo įtaka, ir nustatytas statistiškai reikšmingas ryšys tarp tam tikrų verslo konsultacijų naudojimo ir pardavimo apimties augimo. Pažymėtina, kad SVĮ renkasi skirtingas verslo konsultacijas prilausomai nuo veiklos pobūdžio. Verslo konsultacijų pasirinkimas tik retkarčiais skiriasi – tai sietina su įmonių dydžiu. Verslo konsultacijos turi įtakos SVĮ augimui. Nustatyta, kad tos pačios rūšies konsultacijos daro nevienodą poveikį smulkiųjų (iki 50 darbuotojų) ir vidutinių (50-249 darbuotojų) įmonių darbuotojų skaičiaus kitimui.

ENImportance of small and medium business (SMB) is enormous in the economics of hardly all European countries both in the sense of created added value and part of employed society. However, it is acknowledge unanimously that many barriers exist, which may impede the development of SMB. Beside the traditionally analyzed financing obstacles, the difficulties experienced by a business organization have almost the same influence. Here the major influence may be done by the employment of professional business consultants. The problematic of the usage of business consultations has been very little analyzed in scientific works. This sphere is almost never associated with the SMB dynamics and especially in the transition economy countries. The research covers the period of 9 years – from 1995 to 2004, during which the interviews with the managers of 304 small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which used business consultations, were made. All enterprises were registered in Lithuania; all were private and had a prevailing part of Lithuanian capital. The development of SMEs is influenced by numerous different factors analyzed in many researches. In this study only the influence of the usage of business consultations has been analyzed, and the statistically significant relation between the usage of certain business consultations and increase in sales volume has been established. It should be noted that SMEs choose different business consultations subject to the nature of activities. The selection of business consultations differs very rarely; it is related to the size of enterprises. Business consultations have influence on the growth of SMEs. It was established that business consultations of the same kind have different influence on the change in the number of employees in small (up to 50 employees) and medium (50-249 employees) enterprises.
