ENThe article deals with preparation of accounting and audit graduates at university level, namely, in the Faculty of Economics at Vilnius University. The amounts of graduates and the analysis of average figure trends prove that more than 8400 highly qualified accounting and audit specialists were prepared during 58 years. The share of Faculty of Economics makes about one third of accounting and audit graduates among the universities of in Lithuania. The main aims and objectives of Bachelor and Master study programmes in Accounting and Audit as well as the experience and outcomes of the implementation of the studies at the Faculty of Economics are described. Quality assurance and support of the studies at the Faculty and the Department of Accounting are presented by means of abundant data of survey by students, graduates and employers. The analysis of the survey results gives an opportunity to obtain a thorough view of the study process in respect to teaching and subject quality, popularity, discipline, the level of the taught subjects and the graduates’ obtained knowledge and acquired competences. At the same time, the renewal of the study programmes of Accounting and Audit is in the progress, and the implementation of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System is the target of the process.
