LTSiekiant gerinti asmenų burnos sveikatos būklę pasaulyje kalbama apie odontologijos klinikų pacientų įgalinimą. Atliktas tyrimas, kurio tikslas – nustatyti tokių pacientų įgalinimo prielaidas. Vykdyta apklausa raštu, naudojant Pacientų įgalinimo klausimyną (PEI). Odontologijos klinikos pacientų bendras įgalinimo balo vidurkis yra 7,6 balo. Didesnis įgalinimas susijęs su moteriška pacientų lytimi, jaunesniu amžiumi, turimomis burnos sveikatos problemomis bei žinių, susijusių su burnos sveikatos problemomis, kaupimu. Pacientų įgalinimą didina ir gydytojo pažinojimas, pakankamas jo skiriamas laikas ir dėmesys pacientui. ENout dental activities, dentists face not only the usual provision of dental services, but also specific difficulties, usually patient fear and pain management. The aim of the work: to analyse the preconditions for the empowerment of patients in dental clinics. Methods: the instrument used in the study was the Patient Enablement Questionnaire (PEI) and supplementary questions on oral issues. One Klaipėda city private dental clinic and one Palanga city private dental clinic participated in the study. A total of 370 patients, including those who came for their first visit and those who came for a consultation, were interviewed at the clinic. Statistical analysis was performed using the statistical program package SPSS / w 17.0 and Excel 2010. Arithmetic means of ranks were calculated (m). The chi-square (χ2) criterion was calculated to test the hypotheses about the distribution of the variable in the population. Results. The evaluation of patients who visited the dental clinic for a consultation found that women were more likely to seek endodontic treatment and oral hygiene, while men were most likely to seek dental surgery and prosthetics. A very statistically significant difference was found between the sex and age of patients visiting the dental clinic: the average empowerment score of female and younger patients was higher than for male and elderly patients (p <0.05). The average of patient empowerment in the dental clinic correlated strongly with dental implantation (r = 0.855), as with irregular occlusion (r = 0.823). A sufficient time prescribed by the doctor increases the empowerment of patients (0.820, p <0.001), and nothing interferes with the doctor during the consultation.The study found the assumptions that most dental clinics empower patients who have acquired an education, and clarified that from secondary education to a higher university degree the enablement average decreases. Therefore, the number of patients visiting a dental clinic is higher according to the degree of education, and the more difficult the empowerment. Identified and highly statistically significant is the difference between the sexes in the interdental clinic and the average female empowerment score is higher than for men. After analysing the mean age and empowerment of visitors to the dental clinic, a statistically significant difference was found between the age groups, and therefore at most, however, the average enablement decreases. It was also clarified that the interviewed dental clinics check that the average of the enablement strongly correlates with dental implantation. Dental clinics check the enabling average for the highest use they have biomedical and complex issues for (i.e. biomedical, social, administrative) on their own doctors. Sufficient time and consultation for the doctor increases patient empowerment if nothing interferes with the doctor. Statistically significant results were found between enablement scores and how well patients know who they visit. The average number of people who visit correlated to the average of a friend they know very well. A statistically significant relationship was found between the probabilities of obtaining prescription medication and requiring empowerment. The patient empowerment score is more than those expected to receive a prescription and received it, not the power of those who expected the prescription and did not receive it.
