ENThe article discusses issues pertaining to the cadastre and register of public spaces and primarily green zones. A brief overview is given on the main references and databases, as well as previous publications. The article emphasizes the importance of the cadastre to public property objects, and analyses some practical examples, which have been selected by the authors during examination of the situation in situ and in visu as well as on the cadastral maps and in the databases of cities, primarily Vilnius and Utena. The Law of Green Zones stipulates that land parcels of green zones shall be entered into the Real Property Cadastre following the established procedure. Administration of the Real Property Cadastre and Register is regulated by the Law on Real Property Cadastre, Regulations on Real Property Cadastre, and Law on Real Property Register. The Law on Land as well as Law on Territorial Planning regulate issues pertaining to the land title and territorial planning. Legal provisions on these issues should be harmonised in a better manner. A lot of green zones in the Lithuanian cities do not have the established boundaries of cadastral parcels. Cadastral surveys have not been performed therein, and such parcels have not been registered with the Real Property Register. Municipal administrations are delaying to order and organise cadastral surveys of public spaces and public property. For example, the Lukiskes Square, Vingis Park and other green zones in Vilnius do not have cadastral parcel boundaries and are not registered with the Real Property Register. Both the cadastre and register of public property objects are of great importance to further management, development and maintenance of such objects, and cultural heritage preservation. In this regard, the Jamontas Park in Vilnius and Lentvaris manor with park are interesting examples. Key words: cadastre, register, green zones register, property register, Vilnius, public property.
