ENThe article presents an experience process of Vilnius greenery inventory program preparation. Authors of the article present a short survey of juridical and technical preconditions; material of the technical task formation and presentation; organizational, technological and managerial aspects of the city’s greenery inventory. Vilnius city municipal government has chosen a model of interactive greenery data base or information system. According to the technical task the material of greenery inventory is presented in geo-data base management system. The material is prepared in digital form by GIS means. In 2009 the following greenery inventory works were fulfilled: - technical task was presented; - procurement procedures were done; - city greenery inventory and registration process is organised; - inventory process has been started; - IT Soft, which is based on geo information technologies ArcGIS SDE version was adapted. The first results of the work process are achieved. Vilnius city greenery inventory and digital database creation is a precondition for the constant and effective monitoring of the city greenery situation. It will help to organise registration, cleaning works, and better organization of the city’s territories planning process. The data of greenery inventory is very important in the context of urban development. Greenery inventory data provides the possibility to regulate construction process and preserve the greenery of the city. Value of the greenery could be estimated by it’s importance (from the esthetical, social, ecological and economic point of view) in the certain place of the city.
