LTPasaulinės turizmo organizacijos (PTO) duomenimis 2017 m. per dešimt mėnesių turistų skaičius siekė 1,127 mlrd. Daugelyje šalių turizmas yra svarbus ir bendrojo vidaus produkto kūrime. Šiame straipsnyje pateikiama turizmo, akcentuojant atvykstamojo turizmo samprata, lyginama Europos Sąjungos turizmo ir atvykstamojo turizmo tarp Sąjungos šalių rodikliai, t. y. praleistų naktų skaičius, jie lyginami su Lietuvos turizmo rodikliais. Atlikta statistinė analizė parodė, kad analizuojamu laikotarpiu 2012-2016 m. turistų nakvynių skaičius tiek Lietuvoje, tiek ES šalyse didėjo, Tačiau Lietuvos keliautojai užsienyje praleidžia apie 10 kartų mažiau naktų negu tai vidutiniškai daro Europos Sąjungos šalių keliautojai. ENAccording to World Tourism Organization (WTO) data for 2017 over ten months, the number of tourists reached 1.127 billion. In many countries, tourism is also important for generating gross domestic product. This article presents tourism, highlighting the concept of inbound tourism, comparing the indicators of the European Union tourism and incoming tourism between the countries of the Union, i. the number of missed nights, they are compared with Lithuanian tourism indicators. The results showed that the most popular in 2016 EU country of destination for foreigners (non-domestic travelers) was Spain, spending 295 million people at tourist accommodation establishments. overnight stays, or 22.2 percent of all EU countries. Nearly 7 out of 10 of these 295 million three Spanish regions: Canary Islands, Balearic Islands and Catalonia (Eurostat, 2017). In addition to Spain, the other four most popular foreign countries in the EU were Italy (199 million nights), France (124 million nights) and the United Kingdom (119 million nights, an approximate indicator based on monthly data for 2016) where foreigners spent together more than half (55.7%) of all their nights spent (Eurostat, 2017). The performed statistical analysis showed that during the analyzed period 2012-2016, the number of employees in Latvia was higher. The number of overnight stays for tourists both in Lithuania and in the EU countries has increased, but Lithuanian travelers abroad spend about 10 times less nights than European Union travelers on average.
