Nendrė baltų mitologijoje

LTStraipsnyje nagrinėjama nendrės mitologema remiantis lietuvių ir latvių tautosakos (dainų, užkalbėjimų, pasakų, mįslių) duomenimis ir įtraukiant tipologiškai panašią kitų pasaulio tradicijų medžiagą. Visų pirma, nendrės mitologemai yra aktuali semiotinė gyvenimo-mirties opozicija, kurioje nendrė atstovauja mirusiųjų pasauliui, tačiau ne vienaprasmiškai. Bene visuotinai pasaulyje yra paplitęs siužetas apie nendrę, išaugusią iš nekaltai užmušto personažo kūno, tačiau esama ir siužetų, kuriuose iš nendrės buvo sukurti žmonės. Lietuvių ir latvių tautosakoje užfiksuoti motyvai leidžia sieti nendrę su ligos įveikimu, apskritai su gyvybingumu, su vedybine simbolika. Lietuvių ir latvių tradicijose nendrė dažniau siejama su moterimis (nors latvių dainose palyginama ir su jaunikiu), o slavų tautų pasakose ji dažniau išauga ant berniuko kapo. Nendrės ryšys su mitiniais personažais taip pat nėra vienareikšmis: lietuvių tradicijoje šis augalas siejamas su apatiniu pasauliu (velniu), o latvių dainose turi ryšį su dangaus dievybėmis. Nendrės sąsaja su gyvenimo ištakomis atsispindi ir kitų pasaulio tautų mitologijose. Sukaupti duomenys leidžia daryti išvadas apie nendrės vaizdinio baltų tautosakoje ypatumus. ENThe article examines the reed mythologem based on the data of Lithuanian and Latvian folklore (songs, incantations, fairy tales, riddles), including typologically similar material from other world traditions. First, the reed mythologems are the current semiotic opposition to life-death, in which the reed represents the world of the dead, but not unequivocally. There is a story prevalent around the world about a reed growing out of the body of an innocently killed character, but there are also scenes in which humans were created from a reed. The motifs recorded in Lithuanian and Latvian folklore allow us to link the reed with overcoming disease, in general it is associated with vitality, marital symbolism. In Lithuanian and Latvian traditions, the reed is more often associated with women (although Latvian songs also compare it to the groom), and in Slavic folk tales it grows more often on a boy’s grave. The connection of the reed with mythical characters is also not unambiguous: in the Lithuanian tradition, this plant is associated with the lower world (the devil), and in Latvian songs it has a connection to the gods. The connection of the reed with the origins of life is also reflected in the mythologies of other nations of the world. The collected data allow us to draw conclusions about the peculiarities of the reed image in Baltic folklore. [From the publication]
