ENThe subject of the research is: how physical education is conducted in schools from the physical education teachers’ point of view. The method of empirical research method was a questionnaire survey. The study population contains teachers of Klaipėda city and district. The sample of the research is 75 physical education teachers (24 physical education teachers of Klaipėda district and 51 physical education teachers of Klaipėda city). The research was conducted in March, 2022, by conducting a questionnaire survey online. The results obtained during the research reveal the peculiarities of the organization of physical education lessons. Main findings. 1. The attitude of physical education teachers of Klaipėda city and district about the assessment of students' achievements is similar: students' achievements in physical education lessons are assessed by grades, all interviewed teachers assess students' knowledge and ability to use them, as well as physical fitness; most teachers evaluate technical and tactical actions of pupils. The attitude of physical education teachers of Klaipėda city and district about the content of physical education does not differ significantly: all interviewed teachers teach team and individual games; all Klaipėda district and the majority of city teachers lead classes in the open air. 2. The attitude of physical education teachers of Klaipėda city and district towards the teaching environment is similar: according to both the city and district teachers, the situation that priority is given to other lessons or activities instead of physical education lessons is rare in their schools. The attitude of physical education teachers of Klaipėda city and district towards the quantity of physical education means does not differ significantly (assessed as good), but the attitude towards physical education means quality in schools differs significantly (the city teachers assess it well, while the district ones assess it as a.3. The attitude of teachers of Klaipėda city and district towards work with physically weaker students is similar: most often, physical education lessons for students of a special physical ability group usually take place together with the whole class; teachers usually offer alternative activities such as checkers and chess, board games to students who are discharged from physical education. 4. The attitude of teachers of Klaipėda city and district towards the status of physical education at school differ significantly: the city teachers believe that this discipline is given a lower status than other subjects, while the district teachers consider it as having the same status in their schools.
