ENSławatycze is a former private town, now a village, located in the period of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth on an ethnic, state and cultural borderland, which was reflected in the character of this town. It is one of the 15 former towns of the former Brest poviat (Grand Duchy of Lithuania), which obtained city status in the 16th century and lost it in the 19th century. In the 17th and 18th centuries, great landowners conducted economic surveys of their estates; one such census is the preserved Sławatycze inventory, drawn up in the years 1656–1765, at various intervals, including a dozen or so different sets of data from different years. These materials make it possible to reconstruct economic and social life as well as the spatial arrangement. These inventories have not yet been compiled as a whole. [From the publication]
