ENDespite the dynamics of economic growth and significant political changes over the past 30 years, the inhabitants of the Baltic states have continued to face the risk of poverty and social exclusion, to a greater extent than the citizens of other European countries. The aim of the study is to analyze the social status and evaluate the policies towards poverty and social exclusion in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Elderly people, single people, women and children are exposed to the greatest risk in these countries, according to diagnostic research based on statistical methods and social indicators. Due to specific national policies and the politicization of ethnic issues, national minorities and ethnic groups are also vulnerable to the risk of poverty and exclusion. The conclusions indicate that the problem is still significant, and the risk of poverty may increase during crises. [From the publication]
