Michalas Reicheris ir anatomija Vilniuje 1919-1939

LTNuo pat veiklos pradžios Stepono Batoro universiteto Medicinos fakulteto padėtis buvo sudėtinga – trūko lėšų mokslui skirtoms patalpoms įrengti, pasamdyti specialistams, įsigyti naujausios aparatūros. Nepaisant to, fakultete buvo atliekami svarbūs moksliniai darbai. Naujausi istoriniai Anatomijos katedros tyrimai atskleidė kai kuriuos svarbius to meto Medicinos fakulteto mokslo laimėjimus. Naujai rasti šaltiniai, autoreferatai leidžia atkurti tarpukario Medicinos fakulteto mokslinę veiklą. Šio straipsnio tikslas – trumpai aptarti Vilniaus anatomų-antropologų veiklą, svarbiausius laimėjimus. Anatomo-antropologo Michalo Reicherio (1888–1973) dėka Vilniuje atsirado išskirtinė tuo metu Antropologijos mokykla. M. Reicherio atlikti Vilniaus ir Trakų karaimų tyrimai padėjo apsaugoti šias karaimų bendruomenes nuo Hitlerio Antrojo pasaulinio karo metų agresijos. Nuo 1931 iki 1933 m. Medicinos fakulteto anatomai išsaugojo ir rekonstravo Barboros Radvilaitės, Elžbietos Habsburgaitės ir Aleksandro Jogailaičio palaikus. M. Reicheris buvo gabus organizatorius – jo pastangomis iki 1934 m. buvo pastatytas naujasis anatomikumas. [Iš leidinio]

ENThe Medical Faculty from the beginning had many difficulties: lack of proper financial support to hire the necessary personnel and buy needed equipment and supplies; the lack of proper physical facilities for classrooms, laboratories, and clinics; and, constant conflicts with government ministries over these and other matters. Despite these difficulties some very important scientific work was done in this faculty. Recent historical research into the work of the Department of Anatomy has revealed some significant accomplishments. A new found archyve sources, papers can help us reconstruct the scintifical activities of the Medical faculty in the Interwar period. This paper will briefly discuss the works of anatomists-anthropologists in Vilnius, the main goals that has been reached in Stephen Batory university Medical faculty. An exceptional school of anthropology was established in Vilnius by the anatomist- anthropologist Michal Reicher (1888–1973). M. Reicher’s research on the blood groups of the Karaites (Karaims) helped to save their communities in Vilnius and Trakai from Hitler’s aggression in World War II. From 1931 to 1933 m. Anatomists of Vilnius Medical faculty saved and reconstructed the remains of Barbora Radvilaitė, Elizabeth Habsburg and Aleksandras Jogailaitis. M. Reicher was a gifted organiser also- till the 1934 he builded the new Anatomicum that is still working in Vilnius today. [From the publication]
