ENThe village of Pramezis, where the Pramezis manor was founded, is located in Prienai district, Balbieriškis parish. The distance from Balbieriškis to Pramezis village is 6 km. The Peršėkė flows through the northern edge of the village, and a small rivulet flows into it through the fields of the village. On the south side, the village is surrounded by the Pramezis Forest. In 1959 there were 245 inhabitants in Pramezis village, in 2001 there were 50 residents, in 2011 remained 32, and in 2014 only 29 inhabitants. The Pramezis mansion dates from the 16th century. On the map of Užnemunė, made by Tomas Makovskis and Mikalojus Kristupas Radvila Našlaitėlis in 1613, among other places, Pramezis is marked, which is shown on the map of the GDL as an important farm mansion with a nearby town. The town apparently flourished because it had an Evangelical Reformed worship house, mentioned since 1637, and a school was set up next to it. In the middle of the 17th century, during the Cossack marches, the manor was robbed and burned together with the city, and it never recovered. In 1827, in the manor and the former town there were only 4 houses with 44 people. In 1924, as part of the land reform in Lithuania, the manor, which occupied 500 hectares with the Peršėkė courtyard, was parcelled out. Its centre and 80 hectares of land were bought by a well-known diplomat and public figure Tomas Norus-Naruševičius (1871-1927) for his sister Cecilija Naruševičiūtė-Stanaitienė. The Stanaičiai ruled the manor until the Soviet times. In the post-war period, the Stanaičiai family had to hide in order to avoid exile. During the Soviet era, the manor was nationalized, housed an eight-year school, a library, a milkbuying station, and people. After the restoration of independence, the manor was inherited by doctor Jonas Stanaitis. Presently, the estate is decayed.A lot of children from the surrounding villages were studying at the Pramezis School, and people still remember the former manor house, and the teachers who worked there. There are many famous people in Lithuania who attended this school. [From the publication]
