Summary / Abstract:

ENThe research of remigration while underlining social, psychological and cultural areas of its process began quite recently. School-age children arriving together with returning emigrants are forced to continue their education in general education schools in Lithuania. To this day, a large proportion of educators are facing a great deal of uncertainty while educating the children returning from abroad. This leads to the main question of this article: what makes returning child’s integration in the Lithuanian education system successful? The objective of the article: The readiness of the education system to accept students from returning families. The main aim of the article: to reveal and examine the preparation of the Lithuanian education system to accept children from returning families, and, moreover, to determine the factors needed for their successful integration. The main tasks of the article: to evaluate the readiness and also the limitations when accepting returning children to general education schools in Lithuania. Furthermore, to conduct an empirical research study in order to examine the standpoint of the employees at the educational institutions in Lithuania regarding the educational integration of returning children, as well as to determine the influencing factors that have a significant impact on the success of integration of the children while also determining the main influencing factors of remigration, its obstacles and limitations along with analyzing the impact of the preparation of students in Lithuanian schools abroad on their education after their return.Research methodology: the analysis of the scientific literature and other information sources along with a qualitative research method and an interpretive evaluation of interviews. It was established that the concept of education of returning children is ever-changing. Two groups of influencing factors regarding a successful or unsuccessful integration of a child were determined in this article: internal and external factors. Child’s motivation is considered the most essential factor while seeking a successful integration process. Other significant factors are cooperation with parents, constant improvement of competencies of educators as well as a positive attitude of the school community that is accepting the children. The main obstacles that Lithuanian educational institutions are facing at the moment are Lithuanian language education and nurturing, a lack of tolerance and competencies of educators. An evident incompatibility of educational documents and practical activities can create limitations regarding equal integration opportunities for returning children. The development and creation of a cooperative environment within the school is determined to be one of the most successful methods to facilitate the job of educators. [From the publication]
