EN"Pluralism" and "tolerance" have become buzzwords in today's political, religious, ethical, philosophical, psychological and other texts. Classic understanding of tolerance applies to how we treat people we disagree with, not how we treat ideas we think are false. Classic understanding of tolerance requires that all persons are treated courteously, no matter what are their views; even it doesn't mean that all views have equal worth, merit, or truth. To argue that some views are false, immoral, or just plain silly does not violate any meaningful definition or standard of classic tolerance. The classic principle of tolerance claims: be egalitarian regarding persons but be elitist regarding ideas. [Extract, p. 156]
