ENThe aim of the article is to show that Piotr Rojzjusz, Judge of the Royal Arbitral Court in Vilnius, applied Roman law as a criterion for interpretation in relation to Magdeburg law. Roman law served to interpret the meaning of doubtful notions of German law. The author was also an advocate of the subsidiary application of Roman law in the case of loopholes in national laws. His work entitled Decisiones […] de rebus in sacro auditorio Lituanico ex appellatione iudicatis (Kraków 1565) is a commentary on five judgments. The basis of the verdict is Magdeburg law, but the author’s arguments are full of references to Roman law and the works of glossators and commentators. [From the publication]
