Lietuviškų bažnytinių chorų vertinimo problematika (XIX a. pabaiga – xx a. pradžia)

LTLietuvos bažnytinių chorų veikla XIX a. pabaigoje – XX a. pradžioje yra vienas unikaliausių tautos chorinės kultūros puslapių. Minimu laikotarpiu kompozitorius J. Naujalis privačiai lavino vargonininkus, mokė juos chorvedybos amato. Jaunieji vargonininkai energingai kūrė chorus savo parapijose, mokė juos giedoti liturgijoje, o kai būdavo organizuojamas lietuviškas vakaras, choras parengdavo kelias tautiškas dainas. Kartu su chorų sąjūdžiu pradėjo formuotis ir nacionalinė muzikos kritika. Jos dėmesio centre buvo tautinio atgimimo kultūrinė veikla ir ypač lietuviški vakarai. Aprašant lietuviškų vakarų vajų, buvo sureikšminama chorų socialinė funkcija, nuopelnai žadinant lietuvybę. Liko neįvertinta tiesioginė bažnytinių chorų funkcija – dalyvavimas liturgijoje. Sovietiniais metais rašyta Lietuvos muzikos istorija jau atvirai neigė bažnytinių chorų vaidmenį tautos kultūroje, šmeižė Bažnyčią ir katalikų dvasininkiją, iškraipė kultūros faktus. Tokiu būdu bažnytinių chorų veikla (XIX a. pabaigoje-XX a. pradžioje) muzikos istorijoje liko deramai neaprašyta ir neįvertinta. Įsitvirtino įvaizdis, kad tautinio atgimimo chorinę tradiciją suformavo paskubomis jaunų muzikų suburti chorai, o nuolat veikiantys bažnytiniai chorai turėję tik marginalinę reikšmę. Straipsnyje apžvelgiama Lietuvos katalikų bažnyčių lietuviškų parapijų chorų veikla XIX a. pabaigoje – XX a. ENThe activities of Lithuania’s church choirs at the end of the 19th – the beginning of the 20th century is one of most unique pages of choir culture of the nation. During the said period the composer J. Naujalis trained organ players privately, taught them the trade of choir mastery. The young organ players created choirs in their parishes and taught them to sing in liturgy, and when a Lithuanian evening was organised, the choir prepared several national songs. Alongside the choir movement national music criticism started to form. Its attention was centred on the cultural activity of the national rebirth, and the Lithuanian evening in particular. When describing the Lithuanian evening campaign, the social function of choirs, their merits to awakening Lithuanianism were given prominence The direct function of the church choirs – participation in liturgy – was not assessed. The history of Lithuanian music that was written in the soviet years openly denied the role of the church choirs in the nation’s culture, slandered the Church and the Catholic clergymen, and distorted the facts of culture. In this way the activity of the church choirs (the end of the 19th –the beginning of the 20th century) was not properly featured and assessed in the history of music. The image became established that the choir tradition of the national rebirth was formed by the choirs formed by young musicians in a hurry, and constantly functioning church choirs had only a marginal significance. At the end of the 19th – in the first half of the 20th century a complete list of choirs created prior to declaring the independence of Lithuania was presented.
