Unitai ir jų sakraliniai pastatai LDK

LTXVI a. pabaigoje įvykusi bažnytinė Bresto unija ir greta jau egzistuojančių katalikų, stačiatikių, reformatų bei kitų konfesijų „atsiradusi“ unitų religinė bendruomenė ir jos veikla istorijos, religijos bei kultūros tyrinėtojų darbuose buvo ir vis dar yra vertinama labai prieštaringai. Tokio vertinimo priežastys dažnai yra kategoriška politinė ir religinė pozicija, kuri šiandien gali būti vertinama kaip atskira problema, trukdanti atidžiau ir giliau pažvelgti į Lietuvos Didžiosios kunigaikštystės (LDK) unitų veiklos pobūdį. Lig šiol unitai susilaukė tyrinėtojų dėmesio daugiausia religiniu ir politiniu aspektu, tačiau nuošalyje liko beveik nenagrinėtas kultūrinis šios temos aspektas, kuris leistų plačiau pažvelgti į gvildenamą temą ir suteiktų galimybę sumažinti kategoriškus ir vienpusiškus vertinimus bei suteiktų naujų akcentų LDK kultūros tyrinėjimams. Viena tokių sričių ir yra architektūrinė LDK unitų veikla XVII-XVIII a. pabaigoje. Straipsnyje apžvelgiamos unitų religinės bendruomenės susiformavimo aplinkybės bei LDK unitų architektūrinė veikla XVII-XVIII a. pab., pateikiama XVII-XVIII a. LDK kai kurių unitų pastatytų, perstatytų ar atstatytų sakralinių pastatų analizė ir trumpa cerkvių architektūros raidos istorija. ENThe church union of Brest which took place at the end of the 16th century, and the religious community of Uniates that emerged amidst the already existing confessions of Catholics, Orthodoxies, Reformers and others, and its activity in the works of historical, religious and culture researchers has been, and still is being assessed highly controversially. The reasons for such an assessment often signify the categorical political and religious position that can be evaluated today as a separate problem preventing a more attentive and deeper insight into the nature of the Uniates’ activity in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. After this date, the Uniates deserve the attention of researchers mostly to the religious and political aspects, but the cultural aspect of this topic was nearly an analysed[11], even though it would enable a broader insight into the analysed topic and reduce the categorical and biased evaluations, and provide new accents for the culture research into the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. One such area is the architectural activity of Uniates in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 17th and 18th centuries. The article contains an overview of the circumstances of the formation of the Uniates religious community and the architectural presence of Uniates in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania over this period, as well as an analysis of some buildings in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania constructed or altered by Uniates, and a brief history of church architectural development. This analysis is the basis for the description of political features in the sacral buildings of Uniates.
