ENIn the chapter methods used for identification and the results of their application are discussed. The identification of remains was performed in the Laboratory of Anatomy, Histology and Anthropology of the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University led by prof. Rimantas Jankauskas. First of all, the available group (sex, age, height) and individual (diseases, traumas, injuries) data of a person (ante mortem) were compared with group and individual (dental condition, traces of diseases and traumas) identifying traits of the remains (post mortem). Later, methods of portrait and skull comparison and genetic identification were applied. Finally, all these data, taking into account the results of excavations, were generalised in their entirety. It this way, the remains were related to concrete persons with a larger or (in some cases) lesser probability (the names are presented according to the sequence of the date of execution): Rajmund Ziemacki - remains no. 6; Albert Laskowicz - remains no. 7; Bolesław Kołyszko - remains no. 18; Julian Leśniewski - remains no. 19; Zygmunt Sierakowski - remains no. 5; Aleksander Rewkowski - remains no. 9; Józef Rewkowski - remains no. 8; Józef Jabłoński - remains no. 14 or 15; Karol Sipowicz - remains no. 14 or 15; Henryk Makowiecki - remains no. 16; Jan Bieńkowski - remains no. 4; Edward Czapliński - remains no. 3; Jan Marczewski - remains no. 2; Władysław Nikolai - remains no. 17; Kazimierz Syczuk - remains no. 12; Ignacy Zdanowicz - remains no. 11; Mieczysław Dormanowski - remains no. 10; Tytus Dalewski - remains no. 20; Jakub Czechan - remains no. 13; Konstanty Kalinowski - remains no. 1. DNR analysis also allowed establishing that the remains of Stanisław Iszora have not been found yet. Taking into account the identification results of other remains and available possibilities, Kalinowski's remains were identified as well; genetic analysis would be very useful for the final confirmation of his identity.
