ENOne sometimes comes across the statement that Lithuania has a higher share of internationally renowned directors per total population than any othercountry. This belief has been predominant in Lithuanian theatre discourse since the 1990s, and only recently has it started to subside. The names of the directors that usually come up when speaking about the achievements of Lithuanian theatre are Oskaras Koršunovas, Eimuntas Nekrošius, Jonas Vaitkus, Gintaras Varnas and Rimas Tuminas, who have already been discussed in this book. They are in the temple of fame of Lithuanian theatre.
