ENYana Ross did not grow up in the context of the Lithuanian theatre, but came here with a different baggage of human and professional experience. Althoughshe had studied theatre at VGIK in Moscow (a city where she was born into a mixed family and which she left when the family emigrated to the United States), and had been introduced to the tradition that the Lithuanian theatre was so closely connected with for many years, she received a thorough theatre education from Yale University Drama School (graduated in 2006). Ross has repeatedly said that as a director she was most influenced by the German theatre that had a strong position in this school, with its repertoire, the actor ensemble and the importance of the theatre dramatist, its attention to the text of the play and contemporary dramaturgy.
