ENThe usage of Lithuanian proper names, such as personal names and place-names, is reviewed wth reference to the examples found in periodic press. There is a wish to identity the variety of proper names and coinsidence of rendering to the rules. Until now there has often been discussed rendering of Lithuanunian proper names and place-names have always got less attention. Generally, there has been much attention to personal names. Theoretic attitudes, concerning rendering to write them according of Lithuanian proper names and place-names have always got less attention. Generally, there has been much attention to personal names. Theoretic attitudes, concerning rendering of Lithuanian language proper names, do to change: it is required to write them according to pronunciation, that means to Lithuanize (an exeption is place-names, which have traditional Latvian forms). However, it is possible to find different inccorect variants of Lithuanian proper names usage in Latvian periodical press. [From the publication]
