ENThe paper deals with the usage of forms, functions and syntactic meanings of participles in the dialects of Southern Aukštaitian. The investigation has identified that actual use favours exclusively active and passive masculine and feminine participle forms in the present and past tenses. The past frequentative and future tenses are expressed by simple verb forms. In the sentence, participles function as a) direct objects, b) attributes or attributives, L) predicates or predicatives, d) predicative attributes. They can express the meanings of the main action or activity, subordinate action or activity and a distinctive feature. [From the publication]
