ENIn Lithuania and all over the world, the production of organic agriculture and organic food products is one of the most dynamically developing aspects of environment and healthy way of life. The production of organic food meets the concept of sustainable development within the country at regional and national levels. The export of organic food realises the sustainable development of the idea of open economy to ensure the sustainable development of the entire world on the global level. The aim of the study is to analyse the motives of organic food production and export. The tasks of the study are to characterise the production of organic food as a sustainable development path; to discuss the production of organic food and its exports; and to characterise the motives of organic food production. The analysis showed that organic agriculture was successfully evolving in the developed European Union (EU) countries, especially in Denmark, Germany, and Italy; and there is a way for further agriculture sustainable development in Lithuania.
