ENThe issue of the identity of the city of Vilnius, first mentioned in 1323 in historical sources, is raised. Taken under consideration are what common life principles, obligations, mutual expectations and goals bring together or would successfully gather into a community different people of modern-day Vilnius. The basis is the city’s history and narratives on its past. In these narratives Vilnius arises as a city that treasures the rights of the individual and the nation, having ancient traditions of freedom and preservation of the region's sovereignty.
