ENAlbrycht Stanisław Radziwiłł, Greater Lithuanian Chancellor since 1623, was appointed the "starosta" (city foreman) of Pińsk probably at the end of 1631. He assumed the office in January 1632. Although he was holding the most time-consuming ministerial office of Chancellor, as far as it was possible he tried to perform his increased responsibilities personally. Out of his initiative the parliaments passed the constitutions that confirmed the old laws and granted new ones to this town. He felt a very strong, personal bond both with the town and the entire "poviat". This was expressed by his signing the Jan Casimir election act with the deputies and citizens of Pińsk. His main contribution noted in the history of Pińsk, however, is the foundation of the church and Jesuit collegium. This was the largest sacral investment in the entire Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The Chancellor could only witness the first stage of the erection and operation of the foundation as it was finally completed in 1790, while he died in 1656 holding both offices, that of the Lithuanian Chancellor and Starosta of Pińsk until the end of his days.
