ENThe article presents an analysis of the most frequent word-formation models of Prussian toponyms and hydronyms of the compositional type with the component OPr. laucks ‘a field, an arable land; Acker’ III 10510 [6528]. In addition, the Lat. lūcus, ī m. ‘holt, forest’, and the Lat. lūcus, (ūs) m. ‘shine, day’ are approached from the angle of morphological and semantic disquisition. The conclusions from the analysis are as follows: 1) a sememe of the adj. OPr. *laukas ‘light’ can be restored based only on the non-compositional type hydronym OPr. 1306 Lauken; 2) the Prussian toponym 1318 Laukoslauk and its variants 1340 Loukauslauken, 1358 Locauslauken, 1364 Laukeslauken, 1365 Locaustlauken, 1382 Lawkaslauken, and Lokaslawken reflect a reduplicated word-formation type and underlie the reconstruction of the sememe *‘a field of fields - the big field’. 3) аrch. Lat. lūcus, (ūs) m. ‘shine, day’ presupposes either a morphologic innovation, or a secondary formation of Lat. lūx. [From the publication]
