ENThe most famous sites in Skapiškis area having enduring historical value are described in the article. An attempt is made to look from untraditional point of view, i.e., basing mainly on the reminiscences of people, but also using historical sources as well. A word said or a story told can be transmitted from a generation to generation, but finally forgotten. But what is written will remain forever. The famous sites and objects are named in a chronological order, starting from the events which occurred before the war, between and after the wars, as well as at the end of the 20,h and beginning of the 21st centuries. The article deals with the following basic culture heritage objects in the area of Skapiškis related to some famous people in Lithuania of that time: the St. Hyacinth Church, the temperance monument, the mission monument, the belfry, the bunker of Lithuanian partisans in the Notigalė Telmological (Wetland) Reserve, the monument to former Lithuanian Prime.Minister Antanas Merkys in the village of Bajorai, the memorial plaque to brothers Petras and Stasys Pundzevičiai in the homestead of their parents, the monuments to Academicians Juozas Matulis, Pranas Mažylis and Antanas Purenąs, the sculptures made by folk artist Bronius Bičkus, the pillar type chapel to Archbishop Mečislovas Reims, and the sculpture to remember Maironis.
