ENIn his early writings, Derrida attempts to deconstruct the tradition al concept of the sign, peculiar to Western philosophical thought from Plato to Saussure. The article describes this process of deconstruction and shows that the Derridean text itself is open to further deconstruction as pointing to the differential nature of philosophy and to the linguistic nature of reality itself. The key Derridean categories, such as difference and trace, are explained and demonstrated. The author tries to show that Derrida cannot go beyond language and beyond logocentric metaphysics as well.
