ENA very flexible and versatile application of methodology is necessary for present-day sinology in conformation with the common relativistical and polycentrical tendencies of contemporary comparativism. These methods must be chosen according to the particularities of Chinese culture in order to reveal it from within. These particularities are determined by four main factors: the linguistic system, features of the worldview, principles of thinking, and semantics of the cultural elements. The consideration of these factors makes possible the rethought and development of some Western concepts applied in sinology. In such a way the transcen- dation of the limits of our own worldview and the development of an intercivilizational hermeneutic dialogue is provided. [From the publication]
