Summary / Abstract:

LTTyrimo aktualumas sietinas su tuo, kad, kaip daugelis mokslininkų pastebi, darniam turizmui kyla didelių iššūkių, kadangi jis ekonomiškai vystosi sparčiai, bet šiuo metu trūksta darnumo, nes spartus ekonominis augimas daro poveikį nedarniems aplinkosauginiams sprendimams. Šiame tyrime siekiama numatyti tiek pagrindinius darnaus turizmo iššūkius, tiek pateikti pasiūlymų, kaip šiuos iššūkius valdyti. Tyrimo pobūdis teorinis, nes siekiama įvertinti dabartinį ištyrimo lygį ir pateikti gaires tolesniems darnaus turizmo tyrimams. [...] Nepaisant gausių tyrimų, darnus vystymasis yra dinamiškas procesas, kuris nuolat patiria naujų iššūkių, nes keičiasi tiek naudojamos technologijos, tiek ir turizmo vartojimo aspektai. Dėl to, mokslinės literatūros bei statistinių duomenų analizės būdu išnagrinėjus turizmo sampratą ir vystymosi reikšmę, nustačius darnaus vystymosi iššūkius bei darnaus turizmo koncepcijos ypatumus, šiame monografijos poskyryje siekiama atskleisti darnaus turizmo vystymosi iššūkius. ENDespite of number of research a sustainable development is a dynamic process, constantly facing new challenges, since the technologies applied in tourism are changing as well as the aspects of tourism use. Scientific problem: how to manage the challenges of sustainable tourism development? Research objective – to reveal the challenges of sustainable tourism development. The main analysis results: analysing the challenges of sustainable development it was established that some of challenges are related with the measurement of sustainable development dimensions, absence of single index defining ecological, social and ecological processes. It is complicated to compare the resources of all four capital types: human, created, natural and social, and to combine the goals of development progress. The features of sustainable tourism conception are related with the fact, that this concept has received recognition among the scientists and politicians, therefore a great amount of scientific chapters and strategic insights are carried out to implement the principles of sustainable tourism development. Exceptional difference between sustainable tourism and traditional tourism is that sustainable tourism must implement social goals ensuring economic benefit to the community of tourism area, and also should not negatively affect the environment and cultural heritage. While the main goal of traditional tourism remains the implementation of economic objectives. The implementation of sustainable tourism goals should be reached through the encouragement to choose the less aggressive tourism expansion forms having less pressure upon environment, providing higher benefits to local communities, throughout the consumption of local production.Despite the fact that sustainable tourism is sought to implement through the improvement of technologies and as a result decreasing pollution, however there is no progress in the implementation of goals of environment protection dimension, and it is prognosticated that due to international inbound and outbound tourism pollution is going to increase even more. The main challenge of sustainable tourism is related with a reaction effect. The essence of which is, that with a development of technologies the tourism is increasing. Reaction effects are different: direct, when demand is growing, it may manifest throughout direct reaction effect, when the demand of the same product is increasing, and indirect, when the demand for other product is increasing, and structural reaction effect, which manifest through demand reaction to decreasing prices. To solve the reaction effect not only focusing on production efficiency is necessary, but also on the consumption sufficiency. Thus the means of sustainable development management may be classified as helping to ensure production efficiency and encouraging consumption sufficiency. The perspectives of sustainable tourism development are related with community support, sustainability benefit to the business, due to better image. Analysing empirical research carried out by Lithuanian scientists, it is noticeable that there is no assessment index for sustainable tourism with a help of which the situation and implementation progress of sustainable tourism development principles could be evaluated, by adjusting inappropriate policies. Also further rural tourism researches are relevant, the development of which may contribute to implementation of general tourism sustainability principles. [From the publication]
