Teksto vertimas - tarp Biblijos ir flamandų kilimo

ENTranslation is primarily an art, not a theory. Nevertheless, there should be a way to turn translation into a subject of a philosophical discussion. Such a discussion is possible as long as the issue is tied to a particular literary tradition. In the Western world, the longest and perhaps the most consistent tradition of textual translation is bound to the Hebrew and Christian Bible, the history of which teaches us many a lesson concerning the practical and theoretical problems surrounding the enterprise of translation. These problems are of threefold nature: first, how do we read the original document?; second, how do we understand and interpret it?; and third, how do we transform the language and meaning structures of this document into the meaning structures of a modern language?.
