ENIn the 16th century the seminary was arranged jointly for the dioceses of Wilno and Wornie and it functioned at Wilno University. In 1602 Bishop Mikołaj Рас removed the seminary to Kroże (now Kražiai, Lithuania), temporarily it also functioned in Wornie. The Jesuits were obliged to support 10 clerics. The seminary employed its own professors of moral theology (cases of conscience), positive theology and, from 1636, Scripture. It underwent periods of prosperity and decline. There occurred conflicts with the Wornie chapter. In the second half of the 17th century the seminary was run by diocesan priests. In 1742 it was again transferred to Wornie and entrusted to the management of the Piarists. It was only in 1762 when the Jesuits regained the management of the seminary and ran it in Wornie till the suppression of the Society in 1773. [From the publication]
