LTAtsitiktinai surasti buvusio Lietuvos garbės generalinio konsulo Los Andžele Juliaus J. Bielskio trumpi atsiminimai apie labai mažai žinomą JAV lietuvį Balį Praną Mastauską (Frank Mast, 1889–1961), juos paskelbus, leido trumpai pristatyti šį aktyvų veikėją. Jo didžiausias indėlis – veikla 1918–1919 m. siekiant Lietuvos valstybės pripažinimo Vašingtone ir Paryžiuje, darbuojantis Šveicarijoje. 1919–1923 m. J. J. Bielskis neabejojo B. P. Mastausko patriotiškumu. [Iš leidinio]Reikšminiai žodžiai: Atsiminimai; B.P.Mastauskas; Balys P. Mastauskas; J.J.Bielskis; JAV lietuviai; JAV lietuviuai; Julius J. ENRandom memories of Julius J. Bielskis, former Honorary Consul General of Lithuania in Los Angeles, about the little-known American Lithuanian Balys Pranas Mastauskas/Frank Mast (1889–1961) enabled them to be published by briefly presenting this active character. This was the son of the first wave Lithuanian emigrants, who, being raised and formed in the American environment, were important to Lithuania. His most significant contribution was from 1918 to 1919, seeking recognition of the Lithuanian state in Washington and Paris, working in Switzerland as part of the US Lithuanian delegation. From 1919 to 1923 he assisted Lithuanian representatives Jonas Vileišis and Valdemaras Čarneckis in the United States. He had wide-ranging contacts within US political circles who supported and assisted Lithuanians in their endeavors. It is true that B. P. Mastauskas was suspected of working for the US administration by some US Lithuanians, even when he was labeled a propolish. However, no evidence was provided. Later, while living in Chicago since 1924, he was an active expatriate, attorney and lecturer at Loyola University. He is featured as one of the organizers of the largest Lithuanian events.Belonging to the Lithuanian Catholic ideological group in the United States, he was more close to the Lithuanian politicians of Christian democrats, and was more bold in criticizing the politicians of other currents, especially nationalists. In 1938 he refused to accept the order of Gediminas of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, granted to him by Lithianian President. J. J. Bielskis records, briefly, the major achievements of B. P. Mastauskas in political-social activities, reveals his character, personal traits, talent to connect with people in need, and points out that Mastauskas was honest, hardworking, dutiful and hard-working. Mr Bielskis did not question his patriotism. It is to be hoped that in the future there will be a greater interest in B. P. Mastauskas’ work and a deeper investigation. [From the publication]
