Summary / Abstract:

ENThe article presents research results on humanistic behaviour. The research was carried out with 331 2nd-4th form pupils in different cities of Lithuania. The data showed that their behaviour with teachers and parents was humane enough since most children were sensitive and frank with those people. Usually pupils retain their dignity, too. In their association with adults, most of all they lack sense of responsibility because usually only 21% of the primary school pupils keep their promises with teachers and 25.7% with parents. However, humane relationship with their classmates is a rather sore problem. When associating with the children of the same age, the 2nd-4th formers often lack frankness and sensitivity. Only about 4.5%-21.5% of children listen to each other’s problems, console, help, protect in difficult situations, and 9.4% share their things, plans, worries, etc. When analysing the results of children’s humane behaviour from the gender aspect, it was found that girls were more sensitive with their parents, teachers and children of the same age, a little more sincere, possessing more sense of dignity and responsibility. To be more exact, when associating with teachers, they are more sincere, with parent and teachers show more respect and with the children of the same age they are more forgiving. The results appeared to be similar with those of other Lithuanian and foreign researchers (L. Ruibytė, M. Gaigalienė, E. Martišauskienė, T. Parsons, H. Barry, M. Bacon, L.L. Child, etc.). Thus, it may be assumed that social, cultural, personal, and situational aspects cold predetermine the differences in gender.
