ENMore than 800 economic agents are directly related to the operations of the port of Klaipėda. The port and the enterpris-es related to its operations provide more than 58,000 jobs and 6.3% of the Lithuanian Gross domestic product (hereinaf-ter – GDP). Public Procurement in the European Union (hereinafter – EU) accounts for more than 14% of GDP. The European Commission aims to improve Public Procurement practices, promote the demand of innovative goods and services in Europe, and foster the uptake of innovation in the EU. The Government in the Republic of Lithuania wants to improve the management of the institutional capacity, to manage effectively budget funds, to improve Public Pro-curement for business and public sector. Public Procurement for innovation is about innovative goods and services. It differs from pre-commercial Procurement which supports research and development activities, i.e. before innovative goods or services are ready to be procured. [From the publication]
