ENHistory is the memory of humanity. It manifests in and through people. History contains phenomena, cultural events, significant for the existence of nations, which remain in the memory of the nation, some in the universal memory. The existence of nations and states is interlinked, and this is reflected in their memory. A nation without its own historical memory does not exist. The experience of nations, like that of the people, is different, so the historical memory is not identical. Events remain in people’s memory, the most prominent personalities that have influenced the evolution of events have an impact on people’s lives. What matters most remains. It is not so much specific dates that remain in global memory as the events themselves, the epoch in which the action took place, say, the Battle of Grunwald. Historical memory is refreshed by museums, archives, preserved architectural monuments and the creation of fiction. Historical memory develops love for one’s country, attachment, reminds you of who you are, shapes national consciousness and state thinking. It is constantly being updated with new dates to remember.
