LTI tūkstantmetyje Klaipėdos kraštas kultūriškai ir apgyvenimo struktūros prasme buvo sparčiai kintanti teritorija. Romėniškuoju laikotarpiu, remiantis archeologine medžiaga ir laidojimo paminklų paplitimu, Vakarų Lietuvos ir Nemuno (Memel) žemupio kultūrinė ir teritorinė paminklų atskirtis leido išskirti Lietuvos pajūrio (Vakarų Lietuvos) kapinynų su akmenų vainikais kultūrinę sritį, kuri nusidriekia į pietvakarių Latviją, ir Nemuno žemupio kapinynus, kurie paplitę ir kairiajame Nemuno krante. Tautų kraustymosi laikotarpiu, po vidinių ir išorinių priežasčių nulemtos Vakarų Lietuvos kapinynų su akmenų vainikais ir Nemuno žemupio kultūrinių sričių griūties, Klaipėdos krašte matome tris skirtingus etnokultūrinius darinius. ENIn the ist millennium, in terms of its culture and the structure of the population, the Klaipėda Region was a fast changing territory. Based on the archaeological material and the distribution of the burial sites, in the Roman Period, the cultural and territorial characteristics of the sites of Western Lithuania and the lower reaches of the Nemunas (Memel) led to the identification of the cultural areas of the Lithuanian coastland (Western Lithuania) with the graves in stone circles, stretching to southwestern Latvia, and the cemeteries of the lower reaches of the Nemunas, prevailing also on the left bank of the Nemunas. In the Migration Period, due to the collapse of the cultural areas of the Western Lithuanian cemeteries with graves in stone circles and of the lower reaches of the Nemunas, predetermined by the internal and external causes, we can identify three different ethnocultural structures in the Klaipėda Region.
