Majoras Stasys Zaskevičius Lietuvos konsulinėje tarnyboje Petrograde

LTStraipsnyje, remiantis šaltiniais ir istoriografija, analizuojama majoro Stasio Zaskevičiaus veikla Lietuvos konsulate Petrograde 1922 m. liepos 8 d.– 1923 m. rugsėjo 30 d., sprendžiant konsulato personalo kaitos, stygiaus ir buvusio Lietuvos konsulo Petrograde Aleksandro Dubinskio dėl jo neatsakingo vadovavimo kilusias problemas, taip pat veikla tvarkant konsulato dokumentaciją ir turtą, atvežtą į Lietuvos atstovybę Maskvoje 1923 m. spalio 6 d.–gruodžio 15 d. Daroma išvada, kad konsulas S. Zaskevičius sėkmingai sprendė su konsulo personalu susijusias problemas, rūpinosi konsulato perėmimo iš A. Dubinskio ir jo grąžinimo į Lietuvą reikalais, tremtinių ir optantų grįžimu į Lietuvą, valstybės saugumu, sparčia ir patogia komunikacija su kaimyninėmis Lietuvos atstovybėmis užsienyje. ENThe article analyzes Major Stasys Zaskevičius’ consular service in Petrograd in the period from July 1922 to September 1923 and in the Lithuanian Embassy in Moscow from October to December 1923. It reveals the significance of restoring citizens and foreign services’ confidence in Lithuanian public institutions abroad. The first part of the article examines the situation in the Lithuanian consulate prior to Major Zaskevičius’ arrival to Petrograd; the second part reveals the impressions of the first workweek in the consulate of the acting consul; the third part analyses Major Zaskevičius’ activities in the consulate; the fourth part describes the closure of the consulate and its transfer to Moscow. The research was based on the file cases No. 2, 3 and 7 taken from the fund No. 383 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Office of the Chief Archivist of Lithuania and transcripts of meetings of the Constituent Seimas. The research showed that by dealing with the consequences of A. Dubinskis’ activity, expressing concern about the exiles and optants’ return to Lithuania, taking care of the employees of the consulate and state security and communicating with foreign consular corps, Major Stasys Zaskevičius proved that a Lithuanian officer was perfectly capable of representing his country and its citizens.
