ENThe purpose of the work is to reveal the results of the study of Lithuanian ethnic music in the light of ethnogenesis. Understanding the complexity of the definition of ethnic, national and regional identity, the author tries to point out some elements of Lithuanian ethnic music, which, quite possibly, could later be used as important tools for solid comparative studies of music of different peoples in the light of ethnogenesis. Methodology of the research is a systematic approach to the analysis of Lithuanian ethnic music, analytical, historical, typological and comparative methods. The scientific novelty of the research is determined by a new and unique approach to studying the laws of Lithuanian ethnic music in the context of the correlation of ethnomusicology with interdisciplinary sciences of socio-cultural anthropology and publication of the results of the study in Russian. Conclusions. In this article, there was no goal on the basis of comparing Lithuanian ethnic music with the musical phenomena of other peoples to solve complex issues of ethnogenesis, all the more, to claim ethnogenetic conclusions. The main goal was to show the prospect of researching various phenomena of Lithuanian folklore – both individual genres or styles, and some of its structural elements in the light of ethnogenesis. It was also important to determine the different "circles" of ethnic ties possible for cognitive research of Lithuanian musical folklore. [From the publication]
