ENBishop Antanas Karosas, living in Marijampolė and managing the Lithuanian part of the Seinai diocese remained little noticeable in written sources. This stage of his life and work is rather difficult to describe and, thus, appreciate. However, from the scant historical knowledge, we can get the impression that this pastor deserved much not only to the Catholic Church in Lithuania, but also to the people of Lithuania. Quite reserved, but educated, good-natured, wise and politically minded pastor was able to manage the part of the diocese being in some kind of exile. Bishop Antanas Karosas, the last Ordinary of Seinai, becomes the first bishop of Vilkaviškis. In this way, the continuation of traditions and the historical continuity of the institutions to the new diocese are transmitted. During this troubled, difficult period, Bishop Antanas Karosas remained a highly regarded personality. [From the publication]
