Application of information technologies in training pedagogues
Summary / Abstract:

ENThe 21st century, which distinguishes in fast progress of science and technologies, constantly changing needs of the market, highlights larger requirements both to the society and an individual. Lithuanian higher education institutions meeting the challenges of information, knowledge and smart society change the forms and methods of specialists’ training. Technologies (particularly information) more and more get included into educational process; teaching methods change as well. If earlier (the end of the 20th century) it was possible to speak like this about university programme of engineering and science education, so in the beginning of the 21st century it is possible to speak about new distance teaching form that is applied in the field of humanitarian and social sciences’ studies. Despite that pedagogues are trained even at several universities providing day-time bachelor studies, one-year non-degree study programme, in which people possessing subject bachelor’s qualification but not possessing necessary pedagogical qualification, is still popular. The article discusses the KTU experience in training pedagogues in non-degree study programme ‘Pedagogical Studies’, which has been performed in half-distance form since 1999. People, who live not only in Kaunas but also different Kaunas regions, choose this programme. The programme, theoretical study subjects are fully delivered in the distance form by means of e-technologies, is the only one in Lithuania. Students (mentors and tutors supervise them) perform their pedagogical practice (30 credits) at educational institutions.Students can watch lectures on their computers, and those who live in Kaunas or its outskirts, can come and take part in the lectures at the eLearning Technology Centre. Lectures are filmed and students, who could not attend or watch them during the broadcasting, can watch them in the Moodle system when it is convenient for them. Thus the following problematic question emerges: is it possible to state that the experience IT application in training pedagogues at KTU, which can be followed as well as the phenomenon that resounds the needs of modern society. The article consists of two parts – theoretical and empirical, the latter discloses the opinion of the students, who study in non-degree programme, about their feelings and activity at the study subject ‘General Pedagogy’ that is transmitted from the eLearning Technology Centre (KTU).
