ENAntanas Maceina was mostly concerned with the issues of socio-political philosophy in the inter-war period. In exile he lost interest in these problems. Maceina’s works devoted to social and political philosophy show that he combined the features of a theoretician and ideologist, i.e. Maceina not only tried to create a theory explaining the facts of socio-political reality, but also wanted to encourage people to take action that would radically reform the contemporary society. Though Maceina’s theory is obviously related to the Catholic social doctrine, one has to acknowledge that the philosopher basically presented the authoritarian conception mitigated with religious rhetoric. Maceina’s socio-political works can be treated as a conservative reaction to the conflicting process of modernizing Lithuanian society. [From the publication]
