ENIzidorius Tamošaitis (1889-1943) is one of those intelectuals of the inter-war period (together with G. Valančius, B. Jonaitis, J. Tomkus, V. Rastenis and others), who sought to create a Lithuanian version of versatile social concept. Social attitudes of I. Tamošaitis matured under the influence of various philosophic ideas which prevailed in Europe at that time. In this respect the so called universality of O. Spann should be mentioned first because it influenced Lithuanian philosopher the strongest. The theoretical-methodological rules adopted from O. Spann and coordinated with M. Scheler’s concept of human being were reconstructed by I. Tamošaitis in his own way. This versatile concept of society as a whole was in fact an alternative to the positivistic liberal concept of society (representative: P. Leonas). Furthermore, it made a theoretical revision of fundamental principals of the Catholic organic concept of society (representatives: A. Maceina, J. Keliuotis, P. Dielininkaitis, S. Šalkauskis and others). [From the publication]
