ENDuring archaeological excavations a large number of household ceramics is usually revealed especially in the cultural strata of cities where shards number in the thousands. Ordering and presentation of such an amount of material in reports and academic papers becomes a problem. The article presents a method of facilitating the scientific processing of household ceramics - a three-dimensional (3D) scanning. During our study1900 household ceramic fragments of the Catholic district of Vilnius of the 14th–16th cc. were scanned and processed by the computer to produce a typology The paper presents a 3D scanning process, the advantages and disadvantages of this method.
