ENThe article deals with a long and winding riad to legal profession of Petras Leonas, a permanent professor of Vytauti Magni University in the Faculty of Laws, with 32 years of work at the bar and 10 years of experience as a head of Lithuanian advocates, and his point of view upon ethics of legal profession. Considering legal profession a slipery one from the moral point of view. Prof. P. Leonas joined the bar after he was dismissed as a judge by the tsarist administration because of his political views in 1906. In his profession P. Leonas was a steady observer of high moral standards. The necessity of them he explained by subtle relations between the lawyer and his client: the client trusts the lawyer what is the darest for him, perceiving that the latter won’t be responsible for the results of his work. P. Leonas linked his view upon legal profession with his calling to achieve justice and truth. [From the publication]
