Viduklės istorinė urbanistinė raida (iki 1975 m.)

LTAnksti įsikūrusi reikšmingoje Žemaitijos vietoje Viduklė jau iš pradžių turėjo geras prielaidas plėtoti ūkinę veiklą. Tačiau nepaisant XV a. pradžioje įsteigtos bažnyčios, o gal ir maždaug tuo metu vykusios prekybos, 1421 m. atitekusi Žemaičių vyskupui Viduklė netapo reikšmingesniu regiono ūkiniu centru. Tik dėl to. Tiek ir dėl ne visai palankių gamtinių sąlygų linijinio plano miestelis nepersitvarkė į radialinį, nors įgijo kai kurias šiam tipui būdingas formas. Valakų reformos metu, jei ir buvo matuota, Viduklė nebuvo pertvarkyta pagal stačiakampį planą. Tad miestelio planas formos požiūriu buvo stabilus visu jo raidos laikotarpiu, nepakankamai išryškėjo ir Lietuvos miesteliams būdingo centro vaidmuo, nuo kurio priklausė Viduklės vaizdas. ENViduklė is one of the oldest settlements in Samogitia situated in an important location there. Right from the start Viduklė had favourable conditions to develop economic activities. However despite the fact that at the beginning of the 15th century a church was built here and that approximately at the same period trade was conducted Viduklė, which was granted to the bishop of Samogitia in 1421, did not become an important economic centre of the region. Due to it and to not quite favourable natural conditions the linear plan of the borough was not changed into radial, although the borough acquired certain forms typical for the latter type. During the Valakai reform Viduklė, although being measured, was not rearranged into rectangular plan. Thus the plan of the borough in respect of its form remained stable throughout its development. The role of the central part of Viduklė in the whole picture of the borough did not distinguish much, which was not typical for Lithuanian boroughs in general. Certain changes took place only in the 19th century and as the inhabited territory expanded the plan and the appearance of the borough were changing.
